UC Riverside
Costume Designer and Costume Shop Manager, 2018 to Present
"I joined the staff of the University of California. Riverside's Department of Theatre, Film and Digital Production (TFDP) in December 2018.
"Working in both film and theatre media has been a stimulating experience. Every production brings new challenges in artistic design and technique.  It is exactly why I love costume design so much: it is ever-changing,  ever evolving. I'm also happy to mentor and pass on my knowledge and skills to the next generation of performing artists!"

"I enjoyed the challenge of preparing students for careers in theatrical arts by teaching practicum courses, Introduction to Theatre, and supervising students in the costume shop."

Independent Design

Freelance Costume Designer, Fashion Designer, 1987 to 2018:

"My design work started in college, of course. My first post-academic gig was the world premiere of a new work presented at the Indianapolis Civic Theatre. That same summer I had three jobs going almost simultaneously: I was an assistant costumer for an independent film called Viper, designed costumes for the play Legacy, and served as a cutter/draper on a summer season of The Indianapolis Shakespeare Festival.

"Eventually I returned to school to work on an MFA, which I completed at The University of Alabama. I went on to become the resident designer at College of the Mainland in Texas City, TX for three and a half years.

"After draping and cutting pieces for a new production of The Imperial Nutcracker for the now-defunct Omaha Theater Ballet, I took a  break from costuming to travel and resettle in a new area of the country.
"Getting back into costume design once I moved to the Phoenix area was very gratifying. It started with a local youth theater production of Hairspray.  I also revisited a design concept for the opera Don Giovanni  from my graduate portfolio and challenged myself to realize two of the designs. I found a great home as an independent costume designer with productions at Theater Works, a local non-profit theater company. Credits there include Noises Off,  the world premiere of Love is Here to Stay: a Gershwin CabaretSunday in the Park with George, Gypsy, Frankenstein, All Shook Up and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde."
